About 20 homes in the northern section of Primehook Beach were seriously damaged during the Jan. 22-23 nor'easter. High winds and waves pushed through the lower floors of the houses and washed away the dune, and sand spread out behind the houses toward the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge marsh.
