Zika: Delaware Public Health Urges Caution for all Travelers

The Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) endorsed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) travel guidelines today, including urging pregnant women to postpone travel to areas where Zika transmission is ongoing. The countries listed include but are not limited to: Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Panama. Death penalty repeal falls short in House

Markell Fiscal Year 2017 Budget Supports Jobs and Economic Opportunity; Invests in Delaware Students

Governor Jack Markell today unveiled a balanced Fiscal Year 2017 budget proposal that promotes increased job and educational opportunities for Delawareans, while maintaining fiscal responsibility by only appropriating 98 percent of available revenues and sustaining a fully funded Rainy Day Fund. Responsible budgeting has allowed the state to maintain a AAA bond rating from all rating agencies. The budget also upholds the Governor's core commitments to schools, public safety and healthcare.

Delaware Forest Service seeks trainees for wildfire classes

The Delaware Forest Service (DFS) is seeking trainees for its annual wildfire training classes at the Delaware State Fire School. No previous experience needed. Applicants should be over 18 years old, physically fit, motivated, and willing to travel for at least two weeks (usually during the summer) on out-of-state fire assignments.
