State Celebrates ?World Spay Day? With Free Spay/Neuter Surgeries
On February 23, more than 150 large-breed dogs and free-roaming cats received free spay or neuter surgeries compliments of the Division of Public Health's Office of Animal Welfare (OAW). The mass spay/neuter event was held in conjunction with World Spay Day. Delaware's Spay Day activities took place in all three counties. The event was aimed at assisting owners of large-breed dogs and those who care for free-roaming cats. These are two groups of animals that experience high rates of homelessness in Delaware, according to OAW Executive Director Hetti Brown.

A 23-year-old Marydel woman died Feb. 20 after police say her car ran into a box truck along Redden Road. The accident happened at about 4 p.m. on Redden Road near West Robbins Road, said Sgt. Maryland woman charged in Georgetown robbery
A Maryland woman faces charges after police say she robbed a man after driving him to a restaurant Feb. 16 and then leaving him on the side of a west Georgetown road. Redden Road closed near West Robbins Road
A multi-vehicle crash along Redden Road west of Georgetown has closed the roadway in both directions. The crash occurred at about 4 p.m. Feb. 20 in the area of Redden Road and West Robbins Road, said Sgt. Richard Bratz of the Delaware State Police. Bratz said commuters should find an alternate route.

Rehoboth reopens Boardwalk's north end
The Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach has reopened after city workers repaired a section damaged during the January nor'easter. Groups, schools, businesses support Sussex food drive
At its Feb. 9 meeting, Sussex County Council presented plaques to groups that collected food and money during the 32nd annual Caroling on The Circle food drive.
